<\/a> By Yvonne Lai\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Translated by:\u00a0Agnes K Y Tai\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Dear Father,\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n How many times have I picked this pen\u00a0up wanting to inform you, father,\u00a0and\u00a0yet couldn\u2019t put even\u00a0one\u00a0word down, being too perturbed that it will hurt your feelings!\u00a0How amazing!\u00a0How God\u00a0has\u00a0moved me to accept\u00a0Paul,\u00a0and following that,\u00a0He moved\u00a0Samuelle\u00a0(younger sister of Yvonne) in the same way to agree to our marriage.\u00a0I would believe, father, you will no longer object to our marriage?!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Paul is presently a missionary of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Hebron Church in Hong Kong,\u00a0serving\u00a0in Ottawa,\u00a0the capital city of\u00a0Canada,\u00a0where English and French are both used. \u00a0He works\u00a0on thefrontier establishing churches for the Chinese people\u00a0for amonthly pay\u00a0of\u00a0400 Canadian dollars. \u00a0He was introduced by Pastor Philip\u00a0Teng\u00a0to Hebron for missionary work.\u00a0Father, truly I don\u2019t know how to explain this to you,\u00a0but\u00a0all I hope is that you will joyfully agree and approve of us, or else I\u00a0fear I may become\u00a0quite\u00a0dejected and also worried!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n In the\u00a0Western world, a preacher doing holy work is a vocation normally more highly regarded by people in general, the salary\u00a0also being\u00a0higher than in\u00a0SoutheastAsia. \u00a0Hence,\u00a0there is no need for you to worry about our livelihood, and I can get a job as well!\u00a0\u00a0 I don\u2019t like living in Paris where\u00a0everyday everyone\u00a0works\u00a0like\u00a0a\u00a0\u2018donkey\u2019from morning till night — (in\u00a0Chiuchow\u00a0dialect\u00a0\u2018donkey\u2019means working extremely hard non-stop daily till late).\u00a0\u00a0I was thinking that\u00a0it is difficult for those who have never personally experienced it to understand what living in a big city is like.\u00a0 So often I whole-heartedly thank and praise the Lord for you father,\u00a0for\u00a0your life in Phnom Penh is truly under the\u00a0Grace of God and filled with God\u2019s blessings;\u00a0you don\u2019t have to work as hard as the people here.\u00a0 Last Sunday I said to Mrs. Chan that although the\u00a0weakness of her\u00a0physique is so evident, yet she keeps on laboring\u00a0so hard\u00a0each day.\u00a0I was so\u00a0saddenedfor her.\u00a0\u00a0She answered\u00a0me\u00a0with a weary smile, \u201cIn this big town the living standard is high\u00a0and\u00a0everybody\u00a0works like this, don\u2019t you do the same?\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Last\u00a0week I went to Paris for exams\u00a0and had a chance to stay for a week with\u00a0Samuelle. \u00a0 She\u00a0said to me, \u201cI\u2019m so much happier while you are here!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0So many times\u00a0Samuelle\u00a0confided\u00a0to me\u00a0that she wanted to stop working as a nanny for others, as she suffered much wrong.\u00a0\u00a0I often said to her, \u201cGod will prepare what you need, just stop then!\u00a0\u00a0Don\u2019t let work affect your spirit.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0I hope I can continue to help\u00a0Samuelle\u00a0with her living expenses here, so she\u00a0might be able to\u00a0finish her studies at ease, for I understand\u00a0very\u00a0well\u00a0that\u00a0it is difficult for a working student to succeed in her studies.\u00a0 Although my own intellect is only so-so, I\u00a0continue to\u00a0thank God all the time.\u00a0 I ask God only to give me a pure, clean heart\u00a0so\u00a0that\u00a0I may always live in the Lord\u2019s love. \u00a0Living for the Lord with a pure heart is good enough, don\u2019t\u00a0you agree?\u00a0\u00a0I very much wish that you will not be\u00a0angry with\u00a0me when you receive this letter,\u00a0but\u00a0rather\u00a0that you understand me and\u00a0guide me, or else I\u00a0may become\u00a0so fretful, for I have always been\u00a0a\u00a0good\u00a0and\u00a0very obedient child!\u00a0\u00a0I am also\u00a0a good\u00a0girl\u00a0who loves you, father,\u00a0the\u00a0most.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0Madame Blah (mother of Rev ?
